Young US show jumper Alexandra Crown comes off a successful European tour to win the Junior Amateur 1.2m Jumper Speed Class at the Rolex Central Park Horse Show on board Basic. She said, “It was incredible! To be able to show at such a surreal setting as Central Park is an amazing feeling on its own, so adding a win to that is just a bonus! I grew up in New York City, so Central Park has always been my backyard. I often went ice skating at Wollman Rink when I was younger, so to be able to compete there was a wonderful experience.”
Who is your favorite person to follow on Instagram?
I like samshieldamerica, _thebookllc_, nf_style and landalucio.
What is the best advice you’ve gotten from coach Kent Farrington?
One of my favorite pieces of advice Kent has given me is to always find a way to get your horse to fight for you, not against you. Riding has to be a partnership between you and your horse, not a battle.
If you could see any band or singer live in person who would it be?
I’ve always wanted to see Beyonce live!
What other sport would you play if you weren’t riding?
I’m not really sure. I’m not very talented at any particular sport, but maybe tennis. I used to play a bit when I was younger.
What is your favorite school project?
For my Public Speaking class last semester, I got to write a speech about the sport of show jumping, which was fun considering I rarely get to write about something I am so passionate about.
