TURF AND TERROIR
Barbara Banke is a woman with a goal – or actually two: produce wine that which a 100 point perfect rating, and a horse which can win the Triple Crown. As Chairman and Proprietor of Jackson Family Wines, reaching the pinnacle of the wine industry is feat enough. Yet Banke has simultaneously climbed the ranks of the American Thoroughbred horse racing industry with her breeding and training facility, Stonestreet Stables, home to legendary race horse, Curlin. Barbara Banke and her husband, Jess Jackson, blazed trails on the track and through the vines, and when Jess passed away in 2011, Barbara not only continued the legacy but grew both family, businesses, purchasing an estimated $100 million in new land holdings for her wineries and guiding Stonestreet Stables to become one of the leading commercial breeder of thoroughbred yearling.
